My workaround is a Kickstart partition on the motherboard
a1ide controller, but I am running out of PATA drives. The unofficial UBoot1.1.4 is alleged to boot from an Sii3114 and so the code must be out there, somewhere. Perhaps that could be published, again.

It looks like work has stopped on UBoot, which is a shame.

Rename to A-Boot

Creator: marko
Hi! It does seem to do the uboot version, CPU info, memory DIMM info, flash 0kb, VGA 0 .. and stops there. The main display is my AGP Radeon 9250, which has a blinking cursor at this point. Serial output to my PC ends at "VGA 0 .." line.

Other PCI-Express devices are detected when only in the 8111 bridge, but are not detected when 8618 switch is also used. These include Radeon hd2400, Radeon M72 (mobility 2400), Radeon x300, Silicon Image 3132 SATA, and Realtek 8111B ethernet. Only the Jmicron jmb363 SATA card is seen through the 8618 switch in OS4.1. (check www.plxtech.com for description of PCIe 1.x device on PCIe2 switch compatibility issue) Not sure why the graphics cards have a problem though, the PCIe link LEDs sem to say those linked up OK as far as the PCIe switch chip is concerned, maybe a uboot scanning issue? LEDs do not indicate successful link for Silicon Image 3132, Realtek 8111B chips in 8618 switch, so something is different between them and the Radeon cards.

ATI9250 & uboot loop

Creator: jabirulo
I recently purchased an ATI9250 128MB and when I turn my A1 on it shows the
Uboot logo and loops forever :-/, but if I enter in the uboot settings
(pressing ESC) and then choose 'Leave without saving changes' (or something
alike) it boots into OS4 kisckstart menu and loads OS4 fine.

If I 1st enter into uboot settings and then Save/Leave
uboot-settings, A1 boots normal, maybe is one of uboot setting I have?

Before I had ATI7000, with the same settings (INTERRUPT=NO 'cos it didn't
work with INT=yes, balck screen), and no problems while booting Uboot+OS4 :-(
Maybe something is broken on my A1 (no IDE/USB fixes on motherboard)

With ATI9250:
14 0x1002 0x5960 ATI Technologies Inc    RV280 [Radeon 9200 PRO]
15 0x1002 0x5940 ATI Technologies Inc    RV280 [Radeon 9200 PRO] (Secondary)
Monitor icon INTERRUPT=YES
Uboot V1.2.0 (aug 28 2007 - 20:52:22)

My UBoot settings:

bootdelay=0
preboot=
stdout=vga
stdin=ps2kbd
ide_doreset=on
ide_maxbus=2
ide_cd_timeout=30
menucmd=menu
ethact=3Com 3c920c#0
baudrate=57600
lsi53c8xx_override=0001
ethaddr=00:09:D2:11:02:D7
ipaddr=<unset>
serverip=<unset>
bootdevice=0:1
boot_command=diskboot
bootcmd=menu; run menuboot_cmd
boot1=cdrom
boot2=ide
boot3=
boota_timeout=3
boot_config=Normal
menuboot_cmd=
a1ide_conf=1220
a1ide_irq=1110
a1ide_xfer=0CC0
serial1_address=3f8
serial2_address=2f8
parallel_mode=2
parallel_address=378
usb0_enable=off
usb1_enable=on
usb_use_header=1
a1ide_maxbus=2
ide_swap=0
boot_method=boota
menuboot_delay=1
os4_commandline=debuglevel=3
bootargs=root=/dev/ram ramdisk=4096 rw video=radeon:1024x768-8@60
l2cr=0x80000000
limit_memory=256
use_memory_limit=no
video_num=1
video_activate=agp
pci_irqa=9
pci_irqa_select=level
pci_irqb=10
pci_irqb_select=level
pci_irqc=11
pci_irqc_select=level
pci_irqd=7
pci_irqd_select=level
agp_enable=on
agp_sideband=off
agp_speed=2x

BYE & THX

Possibilty to choose Sii cards as boot device

Creator: Raziel
It's not able to choose the Sii0680, Sii3112 and the Sii3114 cards from UBoot's Menu.
It would be nice to have those in a PD menu so the user doesn't have to fiddle with the console to set those

Boot sequence options in menu

Creator: TSK
If I have valid value in all "boot1", "boot2" and "boot3" variables and I go to the menu the "boot2" and "boot3" are changed to "none". I suggest that UBoot keep a history buffer, make use of "up cursor" instead of printing funny characters and saying things like INTERRUPT. :-? Command tab completion could also be useful. A simple mouse cursor and "scroll bar" would also make UBoot more shell like. Perhaps like the OS4 minishell? ;-)

Some router telnet interfaces are easy to use and put UBoot to shame! It could take an example from routers with a good CLI.

Inability to autoboot off Linux CD

Creator: hypex
I have Amiga multiboot set. When I want to boot a Linux CD I have to drop to a UBoot shell and run it myself manually as it doesn't autoboot. Leaving a Linux bootable CD in the drives will cause the FLB/SLB to read in all the sectors as it assumes every CD in the drive is an Amiga bootable CD. The OS booter will search it endlessly for an Amiga boot block for about 30 seconds until it gives up. This is with a Linux El Torito CD. It does this for each CD it finds.

It also has an issue with audio CDs, as well as the above searching through the CD, it causes a dump of text to appear on screen.

Incorrect boot delay

Creator: hypex
Setting the boot delay to 10 seconds results in a delay of 19!
