Type: | Bug | Severity: | Minor | Status: | New | Status Comment: | | Title: | PCI-Express bridge/switch scanning | Version: | 1.1.1 March 2005 | Description: | AmigaOne XE with PLX Tech PEX8111 bridge to PCI-Express and PEX8618 switch
With Radeon x1950 PCI-Express card in bridge adaptor board, system boots and recognizes x1950 in OS4.1 pciscan and ranger tools.
With same radeon x1950 card in 8618 switch which is in the 8111 bridge, uboot hangs before booting any OS or giving selection menu. It does seem to do the uboot version, CPU info, memory DIMM info, flash 0kb, VGA 0 .. and stops there. The main display is my AGP Radeon 9250, which has a blinking cursor at this point. Serial output to my PC ends at "VGA 0 .." line.
Other PCI-Express devices are detected when only in the 8111 bridge, but are not detected when 8618 switch is also used. These include Radeon hd2400, Radeon M72 (mobility 2400), Radeon x300, Silicon Image 3132 SATA, and Realtek 8111B ethernet. Only the Jmicron jmb363 SATA card is seen through the 8618 switch in OS4.1. (check www.plxtech.com for description of PCIe 1.x device on PCIe2 switch compatibility issue) Not sure why the graphics cards have a problem though, the PCIe link LEDs sem to say those linked up OK as far as the PCIe switch chip is concerned, maybe a uboot scanning issue? LEDs do not indicate successful link for Silicon Image 3132, Realtek 8111B chips in 8618 switch, so something is different between them and the Radeon cards. | Created: | 20090503 05:39 by billt | Assigned: | 19700101 01:00 to | Fixed: | 19700101 01:00 by | Closed: | 19700101 01:00 by | Comments: | 2 |
