With the new fixed resize window (bug 519) we are introduced a new issue, if you try to open this telescope image: http://snipurl.com/xlf7s

OWB will change the layout of the entire OWB's window (also the other tabs opened!)
Of course, and because it makes no sense to support it if the TABS tooltype is enabled I didn't implemet it - until you submitted bug #519.
Do you want me to remove this feature again now?

@joerg

No please I don't want it :-))))

Simply I asked if we can add the window support also when TABS are enabled because the necessity to open contents in a new window happen very very often, also if you are using OWB with tabs enabled, that doesn't mean that TABS isn't usefull or I prefer window instead of tabs and so on ...

Well just use a tab-alike browser on other platform and you will see, popup, banner, kiosk window and so on, there are a lot of use

You are right on certain point, this maybe can make in discussion the presence of the actual tooltype (TABS enabled or not) aniway ...

Doesn't IBrowse e.g. disable some "magic" if a window opens automatically? And when opened by hand all is different?
E.g. it also warn when a site is trying to close TABs.
Maybe something similar could be in OWB.
It' not so nice, to have a TABed OWB resize for every spam-popup (as commented in bug #519)

Yes on other browser unwanted external windows are generally blocked by Adblock or somethings similar, but there are a lot of case when a user/webdevelopers have the necessity to open their contents in an external window, this is off course very different than the spammers usage :-))

Fot that I see no reason to force users to choice or only tabs or only windows tooltype, sometimes (but i can say often) we have the necessity to have both functionality at the same time :-)

Feature #519 was introduced because "resize window" behaviour is mandatory for cartain effects, but generally it will used only for external windows, now cause the actual "limitation" of OWB, it open that kind of windows only inside OWB (on another tab) for that we have this strange affect that can changes the entire layout of the main OWB window!

This page is an example, but you can find many ...

If you click on link galleries it must open an external window with a specific width/height, but this is impossible using OWB with TABS as it always open contents in a new tab instead of a new window :-/

It is annoying that OWB's window often resizes due to some pop-up, I had no problems before. Please change it back to how it was!

Done, "feature" #519 is removed again in the next version.

@joerg

Thank you *so* much! I fully support this.

The browser does *not* belong to the web developer or his/her customer. The browser belongs to the user. The user gets to decide how big its window should be. If the web site doesn't want to fill up that window with content, so be it. But it should never be allowed to force a smaller window on the user.

(And I am a web (among other things) developer myself.)

Best regards,

Niels

@nbache

Well it's curious as our main site (amigans.net) use this exact behaviour to show the online users when you click on "more..."

http://www.amigans.net/misc.php?action=showpopups&type=online

In real life that mean it open a popup window with a fix dimention, so this is exactly the case when a web developer choose to show a popup window instead of a "normal" one, but ok we are Amigans so other in the world are strange .. :-))
