The problem is that it's not only a progress bar but status bar as well, and will be used for tool tips and the URLs of links as well, and for that it has to be wide, the heigh depends on the font used for the texts.

I'd have to add a 3rd row for separate status/tool tips/URL instead, probably best at the bottom, if I change the progress bar to a smaller, progress only one.

@joerg

Okey, I would then suggest to split the status bar into two parts, one that takes up 4/5th's of the full width that is used for the status bar, tool tips, mouse hover url display and whatnot and 1/5th that is used as a progress bar. And then move it all way down to the bottom of the window. Firefox has it down at the bottom and from a HCI point of view that seems to work fine to me. In firefox the progress bar portion actually also disappears when it's not in use letting the status bar take up the full width once the current page is fully loaded.

the heigh depends on the font used for the texts.

Can the font size used for the status/progress bar be changed by the user at this point? (2.10) Without changing the font size used elsewhere that is.
